Kenya to Start Building New Jacaranda Grounds Stadium in September 2025.

President William Ruto has announced that construction of the new Jacaranda Grounds Stadium in Soweto, Embakasi East, Nairobi will officially begin in September 2025. He made this announcement during a recent visit to the area, where he was inspecting ongoing road rehabilitation work. The upcoming stadium will be a modern facility designed to host football matches and other sports events. It will include a quality playing pitch, spectator stands, and other facilities to support both athletes and fans. This project is part of the government’s larger plan to improve infrastructure and social services in the area, including schools, hospitals, and other important community facilities.

This announcement comes shortly after the government completed renovations on two major stadiums in Nairobi, Nyayo and Kasarani. These upgrades were done in preparation for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled for August. The Kasarani Stadium received major improvements to meet international standards set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA. These upgrades also prepare Kenya to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027. President Ruto expressed confidence that Kenya is ready to host the upcoming CHAN tournament, which will start on August 3, 2024. He assured Kenyans that the country is well-prepared to successfully host this important event. The new Jacaranda Grounds Stadium will not only boost Kenya’s sports facilities but also improve local communities by providing better amenities and opportunities for development in Nairobi’s Embakasi East area.
